There is superb fell walking all around with Helvellyn and Blencathra within easy reach.

Other local attractions include boat trips, National Trust gardens, Little Salkeld Watermill, historic houses, galleries as well as many activities such as fishing, sailing, canoeing and windsurfing. The bustling market town of Penrith, once the capital of Cumbria, is only 5 miles away with a wealth of specialist shops, pubs, fine restaurants and evening entertainment, along with museums, gardens, theatre and bird centre.
