East Barn

Pets: Yes Start Day: Friday

This substantial barn conversion is tucked away in a quiet corner of the picturesque village of Malham, and is set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, where it enjoys wonderful views over open countryside. Being furnished to a high standard, it provides spacious accommodation ideal for family gatherings and benefits from a games room with 7’ x 4’ pool table. There are two pubs, several tea rooms and shops within easy walking distance.
There are many and varied walks direct from the door, with Malham Cove just a short walk away. Attracting many visitors, the Cove rises 300 feet above a small stream below. On the cliff top is the famous limestone pavement - a characteristic area of slabs and clefts formed over the years by water erosion. The Malham Tarn Estate itself (apart from the high moorland landscape with stunning limestone features) includes some six farms, some with hay meadows rich in flower species. There is a National Nature Reserve around Malham Tarn, and bird watchers can make use of the bird hide provided. Light refreshments can be enjoyed in Malham village after viewing the wonderful scenery, where an exhibition about farming in the Dales can also be seen.
Not far away lies the historic market town of Skipton, with its well-preserved castle and broad selection of shops, inns and restaurants. There are markets on three of the weekdays giving the town a lively feel, and visitors can enjoy canal boat trips, as well as a pleasant walk along a path which passes along the canal by the castle walls and on into Skipton Woods. Also in the vicinity and well worth a visit are the Three Peaks, Ingleborough Caves and Bolton Abbey.
