Tastefully furnished to a good standard, it provides a cosy retreat for holidays any time of year with a fully insulated summer house with verandah. There is a CD and DVD library and a selection of board games. There is walking and cycling straight from the door, or simply relax in the large pretty garden taking in the views.

A short drive leads to Stanhope, with its popular Durham Dales Centre and traditional shops and restaurants. Barnard Castle is well worth a visit, taking time to enjoy a day at the Bowes Museum. The owner offers a Christmas meal for two including a bottle of wine for £35.
