There are great walks from the doorstep through the countryside surrounding the farm and some excellent off road tracks for mountain biking. There are exclusive fishing rights on a 11/2 mile stretch of the South River Tyne included, and there is an adjoining paddock for those wishing to take their horse on holiday. The interesting market town of Alston (the highest town in England) is 2 miles with quaint cobbled streets and lies in an AONB. The farmhouse is perfectly placed for touring Cumbria and the Lake District, Northumberland and the Durham Dales, and the borderlands of Scotland. Visit the nearby Nenthead Lead Mines, South Tynedale Steam Railway in Alston, and Hadrian’s Wall. The cities of Carlisle, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Durham make interesting day trips. Shops, pubs and restaurants 2 miles.
