In the beautifully illustrated James Herriot’s Yorkshire, West Burton is ‘acclaimed by some as the most beautiful village in England.’ A considerable claim, but it is indeed a lovely place, its cottages set around a large green and with Walden Beck tumbling down through pool and waterfall to join the River Ure below Aysgarth Falls. Little End House is a charming cottage (shown left of photograph), and with a particularly attractive terraced garden of shrubs, lawns and rockeries. A delightful home to return to after days spent in Wensleydale, Coverdale, Swaledale and Wharfedale. Leyburn 8 miles and Bainbridge 4 miles.
Comfortable sitting-room with stone fireplace, beamed ceiling and bow window. Five steps up to attractive kitchen/dining room with beams and terracotta-tiled floor, overlooking garden. First floor: Spacious double bedroom. Bathroom/W.C.
