Set within the former grounds of Snape Castle, a Grade I listed ancient monument and home to Catherine Parr before her marriage to Henry VIII. The Dovecote dates from the 17th century, and retains original hand carved stone dove boxes. This detached Grade II character cottage has been carefully refurbished to provide a relaxing and romantic holiday home. Bedale, at the foot of the magnificent Yorkshire Dales, is a 5-minute drive; Ripon, Thirsk and Catterick races are 20 minutes’ drive and Wetherby races, 30 minutes. Visit Masham (Theakston, Black Sheep breweries) for guided tours/beer festivals or sample icecream made on site at Brymor Icecream. Ripon, Fountains Abbey and Newby Hall are a short drive; a little further afield lie York and Harrogate. Shop and pub 750 yards.
