There are views of the nearby Pennine Hills providing excellent walking and 8 miles away is the bustling town of Penrith with its shops, pubs and restaurants.

Langwathby and its station on the Settle Carlisle Railway is 3 miles while the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and Northumbria are within easy reach. There are also facilities for bird watching, fishing and golf while Ullswater is easily accessible by car.
