The Grapes Apartments are comfortably furnished and fitted and are situated in the historic and pretty market town of Appleby, overlooking the River Eden and the cricket club. Appleby lies in a loop of the River Eden and is overlooked by the Pennine range with the Lake District Fells showing on the western horizon, just a few miles away. The attractive main street has a castle at one end and the river, with delightful riverside walks at the other end.

Appleby lies in the heart of the Eden Valley and is Cumbria’s hidden gem, it is relatively unknown compared to the Lake District, with beautiful unspoilt open countryside and a welcome peace. It is an excellent central base for touring The Lakes, Yorkshire Dales and the Scottish border plus Appleby is near to the Cumbria Cycle Way, the Westmorland Way, the Pennine Way and the Coast to Coast Walk.

It also has a railway station on the Settle-Carlisle line which is a good place to see the steam trains that often pass on Saturdays. A leisure centre and golf course are nearby.
