Set away from the road in a pretty, cobbled private lane, with the ruins of Brough Castle making an imposing backdrop. Excellent fell walking, bird watching, fishing, riding, bike hire and golf. Within easy reach are Ullswater, High and Aira Force falls, the Bowes and Wetheriggs Pottery Museums, and Appleby on the Settle-Carlisle Railway, while further north lies Border Country, home to Hadrian’s Wall. Advance grocery orders accepted. Shops and pubs in village.
