For those interested in the geology and the wonderful scenery of the Yorkshire Dales, you could find a four-hour hike around the Malham area of the national park next month an excellent venture.

Starting at 11:15 in the morning on October 26th, the event will see volunteers from the national park authority sharing their knowledge area and the various geological features.

Among the features is the steep gorge of Malham Cove itself, while the limestone scenery also includes sinkholes, where many streams can be seen to disappear down steep holes into subterranean cave systems.

In the midst of this lies Malham Tarn, which if found due to the presence of sheets of impermeable rock deep below it.
