The company offer lightweight, high quality down bags that are made to last. More than ten of their bags weigh less than two pounds in total weight. This is great for someone who loves the outdoors but doesn’t want to be weighed down by their bag.
Gary Schaelze, inspired by his outings into nature with his dad and grandfather as a child, founded the Western Mountaineering Brand in 1970. His business was created out of a desire to make a lasting connection to the outdoors.
Gary’s favorite places included “Little Yosemite Valley” (before Hetch Hetchy), Jack Main Canyon, the Cherry Creek drainage and Kibby Lake.
The love of nature is reflected in the names allocated to the bags in the Western Mountaineering Range. All of the Sleeping Bags were named after North American Forest Trees, North American Mammals, as well as North American Tribes and Nations.
They all come in a variety of models to suit customer preference. There are the wide cut semi rectangular bags,( some of which can be opened out into a blanket),this design suits your body size and space requirements, regardless of your weight.
There are wide cut mummy bags which run 62″ to 66″ in shoulder girth and taper in at the toes. Some of the bags also include a hood for those requiring it.
